Affordability Suite FAQs

Frequently asked questions about Pine Labs Affordability Suite, offer validation, discounts, cashback, and refunds.

Use these FAQs to understand Pine Labs Affordability Suite offer behaviour, validation, discounts, cashback, and refund handling.

What is the Pine Labs Affordability Suite?

Pine Labs Affordability Suite lets merchants offer flexible instalment-based purchasing options. Customers can split purchases into monthly EMIs instead of paying the full amount upfront.

The suite covers Credit Card EMI, Debit Card EMI, Down Payment EMI, Cardless EMI, and Full Swipe offers for cashback and discount incentives.

How are EMI offers validated?

EMI offers are validated using the Offer Validation API. It checks card details such as bank, BIN range, issuer, and other offer parameters to determine whether a specific offer is eligible.

Are BIN-based offers currently supported?

Yes. BIN-based offers are supported. Use Offer Discovery and Offer Validation responses to identify the offers applicable to a customer's card BIN.

How do I identify EMI discounts and product instant discounts in API responses?

Use these fields:

total_subvention_amountTotal EMI discount or cashback amount
total_discount_amountTotal product instant discount amount
How are cashback or price restrictions applied on offers?

Offers can have minimum and maximum price thresholds, such as INR 100 to INR 1,00,000. These thresholds can apply to specific SKUs, issuers, or offer configurations.

How should multiple SKUs be ordered in offer requests?

There is no specific SKU ordering requirement in the request body. Offers are applied based on the aggregate cart amount and offer configuration.

How can we configure and customize EMI offers in the Payment Gateway?

Share the offer configuration details with the Pine Labs Online PG team, including tenure, discount type, eligible issuers, SKUs, subvention type, velocity rules, and campaign dates. The team configures and activates the offers on your merchant ID.

What is velocity in EMI offers, and how does it affect testing?

Velocity defines how many times an offer can be used, such as once per card per day. You can configure velocity limits per SKU and issuer during UAT to simulate production-like scenarios.

What is Pre, Post, and Instant Cashback?
Cashback typeDescription
Pre-CashbackThe full transaction amount is blocked on the card initially, but EMI is created after deducting the cashback.
Post-CashbackCashback is credited back to the card after a configured period.
Instant CashbackCashback amount is deducted upfront, and only the net amount is blocked on the card.
What is the difference between Deferred Subvention and Deferred Discount?

Deferred Subvention means the interest component or subvention is paid by the brand or partner after a defined period instead of upfront.

Deferred Discount means the discount offered to the customer is applied after a delay, usually as cashback or post-purchase credit.

In short, deferred subvention reimburses interest later, while deferred discount applies price reduction or cashback later.
