UPI Reserve Pay (SBMD) FAQs

Frequently asked questions about Pine Labs UPI Reserve Pay — supported banks, mandate limits, debit rules, and troubleshooting.

1. What is UPI Reserve Pay / SBMD?

It is a Single Block Multi Debit mandate where funds are blocked once and can be debited multiple times until the approved blocked amount is exhausted.


2. Can a customer have more than one active SBMD mandate?

At the moment, issuing banks are only allowing one UPI Reserve Pay/SBMD Mandate per user. This will get relaxed in the future


3. Which banks are currently supported?

Current SBMD mandates work only for ICICI and Axis Bank accounts for Savings. NPCI is closely working with issuers to add more banks.


4. Is Pre Debit Notification Required for UPI Reserve Pay?

No, Unlike UPI Autopay, Pre-Debit Notification(PDN) is not required for UPI Reserve Pay.

6. Which TPAPs Support UPI Reserve Pay?

Many major TPAPs have confirmed support for UPI Reserve Pay, with more being added soon. The currently supported apps are:
Paytm
Navi
BHIM
PhonePe(Coming Soon)
Google Pay(Coming Soon)

Additional UPI apps are expected to roll out support in the near future.


7. What is the maximum transaction value allowed for a single block?

The maximum amount that can be blocked under a UPI Reserve Pay/Single Block Multi Debit mandate is 10000 INR.


8. What is the maximum time duration a mandate can stay active?

The maximum validity for any SBMD token or mandate is 90 days from the date of customer authorization.


9. Can we execute multiple partial charges against the same block?

Yes, you can initiate multiple debits against the pre-approved limit until the blocked amount is fully exhausted or the 90 day validity period expires.


10. Can a customer revoke the mandate from respective UPI APP/TPAP?

No, for Block fund mandates like OTM and UPI Reserve Pay/SBMD, customer will not find revoke option on the TPAP. Customer has to reach out to the merchant to initiate the revoke of blocked funds. The funds will get auto released at the time of expiry of the Mandate.


11. What are the current MCCs supported for UPI Reserve Pay?

5411; 5311; 5814; 5499; 5912; 4121;4789;5552; 5262 MCCs are supported for UPI Reserve Pay at moment. NPCI is unlocking more MCCs soon
