October 2010: Videocon and Samsung leverages Pine Labs state of the art payments platform “PlutusTM” to launch their interest free EMI programs for Diwali Season. Through “PlutusTM” these manufacturers are promote their 0% EMI offer to customers of multiple credit card issuing banks such as Citibank, HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank. Now customers of any of these banks can walk into more than 100 stores (company owned as well as MBO) of Videocon and select the product they wish to purchase. At checkout counter they will have to present their credit card to cashier who will in turn swipe card on a device to identify applicable EMI offer based on product and credit card combination. Cashier captures customer details and completes the transaction which is approved by banks in the real time. Customer details help the manufacturers audit the actual beneficiary of their program and also cross sell them additional products.
